This Summer I’ve been working 3 days on, 4 days off. I have been loving the flexible schedule, that allows me to spend more time doing the things I want to do – like being lazy at home with my furbaby, Daisy.
Daisy and I are the girls of the house so we like doing girly things together. We usually spend our mornings sleeping in a little, then lounging in our big king sized bed until one of us absolutely must get up for one reason or another.
Once my husband is out the door for work, Daisy loves to “steal” his spot in bed. Shhh! Don’t tell him.
Once we crawl out of bed, our day might consist of a walk around the neighborhood or to the trail behind our subdivision. It might also entail a trip to the dog park. Sometimes, on cooler days, she will run errands with me in the car.
Being the foodie like her mom, Daisy also loves hanging out in the kitchen while I cook. She is usually laying by my side as I bake, mix and create new recipes for my blog or for my new #paleo lifestyle. I know she likes spending time with me in the kitchen, but I think her ultimate goal is to hear me say, “Daisy, look!” When I accidentally drop some food on the floor, that she can have.
Most of the Summer, the weather is gorgeous in Colorado, so we’ll spend a lot of time on the back porch. We love to sun bathe!
Daisy will lay out next to my feet and we will soak up the Vitamin D! On occasion I will read a book or magazine, but more often I like to spend this time “talking” with Daisy. I just chat with her about how much I love and appreciate her, how well behaved she is, how fun she is to have and ask her questions about the food she’s eating or neighborhood dogs (yes, I know she doesn’t answer… but I swear she seems to understand). I might be a crazy dog mom, but I know my dog feels loved by me.
The other day on the porch I was combing through her shedding hair and guess what I found? UGH! A tick! She must’ve got it the weekend before when she was in the Rocky Mountains. To my horror, I pulled it out with a clean pair of tweezers, and spent the next few hours combing through her hair with my fingers and eyes to try to find any others. Luckily, I just found the one. Poor baby dog.
Have you ever had to deal with dog ticks, fleas or lice? This is not our first time. Remember I shared with you about the time Daisy dog got lice? THAT was gross!
Anyway, I spend a lot of time with my dog, and give her a lot of attention, so I pride myself on finding these nasty critters quick. But if I was going to be preventative about fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and more I could look into products like K9 Advantix II. Here is a little more information about K9 Advantix II and the PetParents community.
Being a devoted dog owner is about a few things – loving your dog and really taking good care of him/her. She is a part of the family, so I always want to keep her happy and healthy. So, how do we finish our day after I found that tick?
Well, after spending the greater part of the afternoon with Daisy on the patio inspecting every inch, I gave her a long bath, cleaned the tick wound and we spent the rest of the night as usual, relaxing. She will frequently cuddle up with my husband and I on the couch while we watch our favorite TV shows or she will follow us around the house as we do our busy-bee thing.
Daisy is our pride and joy. She brings us happiness. We give her love.
