Sometimes as flight attendants, we get bored of our menial routines and like to play mini practical jokes on the passengers. All innocent stuff. Like today.
We were on the ground in Mexico and began boarding for our departure. There were a few passengers wanting to use the bathroom before getting settled in their seats. This is totally fine, and we let you guys do your business, don’t worry!
But today we were having fun.
Since we were playing jokes… we told each person before they entered the lavatory, that here in Mexico they are emptying the toilets – so before you flush, you need to yell flush so the guys under know ahead of time.
Literally, 4 of the 5 passengers did so. I think the other 1 just forgot, or like a typical passenger, didn’t pay attention because rarely do people listen to the flight attendants.
Trying to hold in our laughter was EXREMELY hard after they would yell "FLUSHING!". I mean, could you??
Overall, we decided we needed to give some credit to the passengers for being so compliant with our bathroom rules in Mexico. We determined they probably were a little hung over too, a few to many cervezas and weren’t thinking straight about this odd request. Or maybe me and my coworker looked too nice to be liars? Or more likely, too boring and normal to actually play a joke on them. Whatever the case, it was awesome.
Conclusion: Sometimes the crazy people are actual us, not the passengers.
